It's tough to rate this book. The story, writing, characters, and everything were really good; however, despite this book's greatness, it pales in comparison to the other Jack McDevitt books I've read. If this were the first book I'd read of his, I could easily give it five stars. As it is, I'm giving it 4.5, because, even though this is superb, McDevitt not only can top it, but has more than once.
