I once heard a TV commentator say that, when you watch a classic film, you don't just watch the characters, you become them. You feel what they feel. You sympathize with them. While "The Zion Chronicles" is a series of novels, not a movie, I could say just that about it. I've finally finished the series, and, honestly, I feel somewhat void now. There are other books by the Thoenes--I have several of them in a bin under my bed, and there are many others that I don't have--but I just don't know if they can match up. The entire series is a masterpiece, and I recommend it to all those who enjoy historical fiction.
