Normally, the sci-fi or fantasy novels everyone says are "classic" are ones I don't find to be that great. For example, "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card had a decent story, but it was ruined by all the profanity and name-calling. Also, I tried reading "Lord of the Rings" when I was in sixth grade, but gave up before finishing the first book because I just couldn't understand what was going on. However, I still gave this one a chance, and I actually found that I quite liked it. The evolution bit at the beginning was a little unnecessary, and there was a small amount profanity, but otherwise, the story was great! I'd heard about HAL before but I had no idea [SPOILER AHEAD] that he was a bad guy! [END SPOILER] If you like sci-fi, check this out. You won't be disappointed.
