The Princess (Contemporary Romance)

The Princess (Contemporary Romance) - Lori Wick Despite having a "Y" chromosome, I've watched and read my share of princess tales. Not only did I grow up watching Disney animated classics such as "Beauty and the Beast, "Aladdin," and "Snow White," but I've also willingly watched more recent royalty-themed flicks, such as both "Princess Diaries" movies. You might think that, since I grew up around princess stories, I'd like Lori Wick's "Princess" novel...but I didn't. Oh, sure, the story was good (but not great) and the writing style was (only) decent. The thing that ruined this book for me was the beat-around-the-bush way of describing certain things. Since "Princess" is about an arranged marriage and has a female protagonist, it deals with marital sex and menustration. However, when those things are talked about, it seems like the author was trying to get by 1960's censors. If you're going to talk about things like that, come right out and say what they are! The way the author did it just came off as stupid, and that's why I can't recommend this one.
