This is only the second book in the "Inspector Morse" series that I have read. I picked up two or three of them at a library sale in a nearby city, only because they were in a box alongside other mystery novels labeled "5 for $1.00". The first one I read ("Last Bus to Woodstock") had a very engaging story and superb writing, and I had no problems with it other than occasional sexual references. "The Secret of Annexe 3," though, wasn't near as good. There was a little profanity as well as some anti-Christian references, but that wasn't as big of a problem as the story itself. I'm very glad this wasn't the first "Morse" novel I read; if it had been, I probably would be quite hesitant to give any of the rest of them a try. Let's hope there's no others in the series near as bad as this one.
