A good "Star Trek" novel bogged down by somewhat frequent profanity and confusing character references. The narrator kept referring to a character named April, which immediately made me think of a female character, when the character was actually male and went by his last name. There were only a few references to him by his first name, Robert; if there had been more, I wouldn't have envisioned "April" as a woman before seeing the pronoun "he" referring to him. If you can forgive all that, though, the story is wonderful if you're a "Trek" fan.
