If you've followed Christian fiction at all during the past decade, no doubt you have heard of Karen Kingsbury. I was a little hesitant to try her books at first, but, after being blown away by the first volume in her "Above the Line" series, I read every book of hers I could get my hands on. Although I've never read a Kingsbury novel I didn't like, this one has special meaning for me. (SPOILER WARNING!) My father completely left my family when I was only six weeks old, so I know what it's like to be the only kid in a class without a father. The fact I was essentially fatherless continued to pain me, even at my high school youth group meetings. Also, there are some people from my past I would love to reconnect with, but, despite the amazingness of Google and Facebook, I still haven't. Reading this book gives me hope that I will, though, even if it's only fiction. (END SPOILERS!) As with all other Karen Kingsbury novels, I quite recommend this one.
