Harriet the Spy

Harriet the Spy - Louise Fitzhugh Even though I'm a twenty-three-year-old guy, last year's "Harriet the Spy: Blog Wars," a Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) starring the lovely and talented Jennifer Stone ("Wizards of Waverly Place") is among my favorite flicks. It's the only movie I've watched three times in the past year. When I saw the original "Harriet the Spy" novel at a local book sale, I decided to pick it up. I wasn't sure that it would stack up to "Blog Wars," but I thought it would at least be enjoyable. Was it? In a word: Yes. The story was well-written and fun, and the novel definitely stands up to the test of time. Reading it makes me want to give the Michelle Trachtenberg "Harriet the Spy" movie another chance; I saw it once when I was lot younger and didn't care for it, but I wasn't too big on movies at the time. I doubt it will measure up to "Blog Wars," though, but I could be wrong...
